There were three Legs dances on 28/4/77 - see my Legs Lists on OFTD.

Thanks SF, I'll sort it later on.

That episode had better be still available to be broadcast by BBC4, it'll be a real shame If we do not get to see what seems like a brilliant episode again, or in my case it'd be a first-time viewing experience!

Hi Panfan.

Love the tantalising list from the mighty Legs & Co!

You have asked for feedback of any anomolies.

On 2nd June you have 'Got To Give It Up'  down as a Van McCoy  track.

I presume this should be listed as Marvin Gaye, and is a  repeat of the routine to his single from a few weeks earlier ?

If that is the case, it looks like there were two repeats on the same programme.

A night off for the girls ?!

Cheers

DD

I'm afraid you have presumed wrong Disco Duck.  The girls did not get a night off as the second "Got To Give It Up" broadcast on June 2nd was a different routine to the previous one.  Both clips have been posted on the One For The Dads blog.

I think I'm correct in saying that it is free to visit OFTD and browse without registering and there you will find all the details of the entire canon of Legs routines in a sticky thread entitled 'The Legs Lists'.  Now I'm not saying that every bit of those lists is one hundred percent but I'd claim a strong 99.8% for them and they are certainly the most accurate record of Legs TOTP performances there is.

If this sounds somewhat cocky my apologies but OFTD are, with the exception of the dancers themselves, very clued up on Legs & Co and it really is worthwhile having a look at what there is to offer over on Young Mister Grace's blog with regard to factual information, even if the at times lively tone on their is not to everyones taste.

panfan's picture

Thanks for the feedback guys. I've been working from two or three sources and realise your list will be the most up to date and accurate SF. I'll query any discrepancies I may come across.

Sorry about Van McCoy. I'll sort it in the evening when I return to work on the list. It was about 2 am when I got to June and I was fading fast!

Suefan's picture

Please feel free to draw on the Legs Lists over on OFTD and if you spot any anomalies I'd appreciate you drawing them to my attention.  Although under my name they continue to be a team effort and the more input the better.  As to the subject of repeated routines which was mentioned earlier we are still in the process of verifying the accuracy of a few of the entries of that nature but it is a lengthy task.  Unfortunately though, whilst the second "Got To give It Up" turned out to be an entirely new dance this seems to have been something of a rarity and so, the number of undiscovered routines is down to but a handful.

panfan's picture

Certainly I'll highlight any discrepancies I come across.  And everyone please do feel free to "put your hand on the buzzer and challenge" if you spot something not quite right, whether an erroneous routine, or misspelled entry.

That's videos up to end of February done now (with exception of thumbnails).

Scrooge McDuck's picture

This is really nitpicking but the Earth, Wind & Fire track is spelt "Saturday Nite"....

panfan's picture

No problem - sorted!  I don't know why I changed it when reading from my list.

Oh well, well spotted and thanks!

Even though the show was wiped we still have about a minute's worth of Legs dancing to 'Oxygene'.Andy sent a clip over to OFTDs a while ago.

I can update you on the wiped 1977 Legs & Co routines, Panfan:

Heatwave, 10/2/77 - Exists outside the BBC - I once saw it on Youtube, but sadly removed a few years ago

David Bowie, 3/3/77 - Exists outside the BBC - I've not seen this one myself, but it's been confirmed as having been seen uploaded on Youtube a few years ago, now also removed sadly

Candi Staton, 4/8/77 - Exists outside the BBC - I've also not seen this one

(Currently missing from your Legs & Co list) Donna Summer and Credits - I Feel Love, 4/8/77 - Doesn't exist, as far as is known :(, as only parts of this edition are definitely known to exist, sadly not including the end of the show where this appeared

Jean Michel-Jarre, 8/9/77 - Exists outside the BBC

(Repeated on 29/9/77) Elvis Presley, 8/9/77 - Exists outside the BBC (repeat exists at the BBC)

Here is the link, courtesy of Andy, for Jean Michel-Jarre's Oxygene Part IV that Glenn referred to previously to compliment his info :):

Thank you Claire, it's on the 'to do' list!

Boogiebox's picture

I haven't yet had chance to check through all the years, but browsing through the photos you've uploaded from wiped and existing editions, nice to see one of Bobbie Gentry and Pan's People, another PP routine identified, this time a performance like Cozy Powell, but from 1970.

Claire

panfan's picture

I'm getting up to date with the BBC4 repeats. Is there any reason to add a video of this?  There's no real difference is there?

One of my most favourite routines, Panfan.

I remember the tune being featured on The Benny Hill Show and also The Muppet Show as a kid.

Thanks to Claire for adding the link to Oxygen

This was got from Utube a few years ago only a short segment the black mark on it was where I blanked out the logo which was on it

Oxygene is a great routine. :)

Maximum respect going out to Andy for tackling the Legs lists and thumbnails. It's a time consuming and fiddly job: many thanks from me and I'm sure all here!
