Luckiest men alive! TOTP 12th July
Forums:
I've just watched tonights programme, and was pleasantly surprised to see Floyd make another appearance (it's a nice nod back to the Ruby Flipper days!).
But then I saw what appeared to be members of the audience dancing with our favourite girls! Were they just the luckiest audience members or were they BBC crew?
It was funny watching them looking lost as they did - probably a mixture of self conciousness and being amazed at their luck! :) I just imagine that's how I would feel if I was in the most enviable position of dancing with lovely Lulu!
I wonder if any of those guys are on this forum? And if they went on to win the lottery?

Not Me
Yes I often wonder about these lucky blokes too Jase. Were they completely random and shocked when picked? They certainly dance as if this is the case. The ones I was always most jealous of were the guys who danced with the Legs Ladies at the end of the 23/10/1980 Show to Coffee's "Casanova" while the Credits roll. The Ladies were in those delectable D.I.S.C.O. outfits and were really cutting a rug and letting loose with relaxed bopping while some experiential millionaires got to have the Dance of a lifetime (cue prolonged Dream sequence)

Picked out at random?
I guess that in those days, getting to dance with Legs & Co. would've actually been like more like winning the pools, what you used to play before the National Lottery was launched.
I too would've especially loved to get a dance with Lulu, I think that people were actually just picked out of the studio audience at random, because I don't think the guest dancers were all that great TBH, I do wonder why Floid seemed to be the only professional guest dancer,.
Were the guest dancers on Summer Nights all professionals!

Next TOTP '77 on WEDNESDAY
The last 'TOTP '77' I thought was an above-average TOTP , all round.
'TOTP 1977' has been moved to Wednesday this week instead of the usual Thursday.
As it stands currently on BBC-4 :
Wednesday 18th July 2012 ; 7:30pm
Thursday 19th July 2012 : 1 :30am
Sunday 22nd July 2012 : 12:10 am
Subject to last minute changes which are unlikely.
Wednesday solution to clash with The Sky At Night
It'll also be on Wednesday's instead for a couple of weeks after that, because of BBC Proms, but I noticed that the 19:30 slot the day after on the normal thursday, says 'to be annouced' in Digiguide, this first thursday of the month is, of course, where The Sky At Night normally replaces TOTPs in that slot.
What I'm wondering is, will TSaN still take that slot?, & could it therefore mean that TOTPs will in future, go out during TSaN weeks, in the wednesday slot, with TSaN in it's normal thursday repeat slot?
Further to that, could TOTPs on out on wednesdays every week, to avoid confusion once a month, when it's on a day earlier because TSaN still takes TOTPs' slots on the first thursday every month!

' Pan's People At Night '
I would like to gratiously ask the BBC-4 schedule team if they would kindly replace 'The Sky At Night' with 'Pan's People At Night' .Ha,ha.
Thanks Justin for the further info.So are we now going to have to get used to the new 'Wednesday' time-slot for 'TOTP 1977' in the coming weeks?.So it appears to be the 'BBC Proms' that has put scheduling out into orbit.Pardon the pun.Could the 'London Olympics' be another reason for more future changes in time-slots?.
Well don't forget fellow members that those of you with Digiboxes will need to change the timers This week : to Wednesday for the early showing & Thursday 1:30am for the longer version which doesn't seem to be longer this week anyway. The Sat/Sun showing still as normal.
How the Olmypics affects us!
If by 'Digiboxes', you mean Sky+, that sets the next recording automatically if you've set up a series link, so the next recording should already have set itself for the wednesday.
The Olympics shouldn't affect BBC Four's output one iota, all of the coverage will be on BBC One/HD, BBC Three, BBC HD (including some 3DTV events), & BBC Red Button services, as well as across 24 temporary BBC Olmypics TV channels on cable, satelite, @ on-line, all in both HD & SD, normal BBC One TV programmes move to BBC Two, I think BBC Four continues with a normal schedule, with only BBC Proms affecting the day TOTPs goes out!

BBC-4 Schedule
That would be good news indeed if the Olympics doesn't warrant a further excuse to give 'TOTP 1977' another time shift or even temporary postponement. That is so neat that Sky+ Boxes can spot the switch to Wednesday this week automatically.
In Dulce Jubilo
On the subject of the Olympics, I am still astonished that some bloke with a guitar played In Dulce Jubilo at the Olympic opening ceremony, without the assistance of five dancers from Britain's rich performing arts heritage. Only possible excuse is that PP was strictly an Anglo-American collaboration, perhaps Danny Boyle wanted only purely British themes represented.
Jubilolympics
Hi FL - I think that if Danny Boyle read "without the assistance of five dancers from Britain's rich performing arts heritage...." he would respond "but we did consider inviting The Spice Girls to this" ....!!......
Lol!.I'm joking..... Just a comment on how popular culture is viewed today..........
