Kenny Everett and Junior Campbell, TOTP 22/6/73
Forums:
Here's the late, great zany broadcaster and comedian Kenny Everett, followed by Junior Campbell on TOTP 22/6/73, existing outside the BBC:

Does anyone have any photos of what Junior Campbell looks like today?
I can't find anything online, but I know he was at a Kaleidoscope event, I think last year, and he first sported a beard while in Marmalade then became clean shaven, at least by 1973.

Great intro by the legendary
Great intro by the legendary Mr Everett (seems to be the start of the show) and great performance of a good track.
Looks like DLT on bass ! LOL
Great Performance and a Comical Presenter

At the moment the Rare TV Archive web site is experiencing some kind of virus issues. :O Normally it works fine, but I personally believe it's been hacked into, someone's added in malicious code and it's currently unsafe to use. I noted details last month, when the site was working fine, which I list above.

Sweet Illusion
Thank you so much for that link, Claire, that is so ****** great! One of the background singers must be Irene Chanter of the Chanter Sisters.
Junior Campbell and Irene Chanter
Hi Scrooge McDuck
I'd not recognised Irene Chanter, but now that you mention her name, visualising the ladies' face, I think you're right. I'll take a new look in a mo.
As Kenny is sadly no longer with us, I wonder if Junior and Irene know this footage of the Sweet Illusion performance has surfaced. They'd be thrilled to bits. :)
I must admit I first thought the guitarist was DLT! lol
Update: I've since rechecked the footage and I recognise Irene. I wonder if the Chanter Sisters and Junior are still performing today. Would love to see a photo of all three of them of how they look today. Can't find any online at present. One of Junior from 1983 is the most recent of him that I've found.

Cuddly Ken on TOTP
Thanks for this amazing video of K E on TOTP, Boogiebox.First time i've ever seen it.Cuddly Ken presented 'Top Of The Pops' on Thursday 22nd June 1973 transmission even though he'd been sacked by the BBC & was a new DJ on about to be launched Capital Radio 194 .I have seen a short clip of him introducing Pan's People dancing to Paul Simon's 'Take Me To The Mardi Gras' - of which I haven't seen yet.Apparently it exists somewhere.Don't know much about Junior Campbell but nice song.I like the photo of Kenny Everett kneeling next to Dee Dee at the TOTP 500th Edition photocall:
What a lovely TOTP 500th edition Photo
Hi Peter
I love Kenny's zany intros, all the more pity that the BBC wiped virtually all the editions he ever presented.
22/6/73 had a very good line-up of acts, and this is the first (in order terms) but second, in terms of what I've seen to date, of Kenny's intros from that edition, the other being to Pan's People dancing to Paul Simon.
Kenny was lucky to be allowed to return to Top Of The Pops in 1973, but I'm glad the BBC allowed him to. He was a brilliant presenter. His last appearance was co-presenting 25 Years Of Top Of The Pops with several other former presenters including the original four.
Kenny was cool on Capital 194. He must have also been on Capital 539 (its original frequency), but I don't remember that far back. He was a genius on both television and radio and sadly missed out on the age of the Internet and continuing to entertain us all with his excellent zany humour. I love Kenny's cool pose next to Dee Dee.
Junior Campbell was formerly with Marmalade (nice photos on this site from some some wiped performances of theirs on TOTP), when he sported a moustache and beard. He then became clean shaven, and at least in 1983, he was still clean shaven.
Here's Junior's first hit Hallelujah Freedom. Here's hoping a TOTP performance of this turns up one day too:

The 500th Show
More pictures of Cuddly Ken with Pans People (not dancing about on their pins) on 500th Show
I wonder if they still have those T-Shirts?
The 1st Picture is from a Noel Edmonds Annual 1979
500th Photos
Hi Andy
I also love these latest photos you've posted. :) Some very nice piccies. Below is a variation of the colour photo.
It's lucky they were taken at the time given that the BBC managed to wipe the 500th, among many other editions. It's cool the b/w photo ended up in a 1979 Noel Edmonds annual. :)
I never saw Kenny during his TOTP heyday, but having seen b/w clips surface, firstly introducing Pan's People then Junior Campbell on 22/6/73, I have been in pure ecstasy. He was perfect for the job with his comical style of presentation and remains very much missed but a very memorable personality. :)
I'm not sure if they still have those t-shirts, but I reckon they'd be a very rare collectors' item, possibly available periodically on eBay these days. :)
