Pan's People in BBC4 Documentary (17 May 2012)
Thought everyone would appreciate a heads up on a forthcoming BBC4 documentary about the BBC TV Centre that will feature interviews with Dee Dee, Ruth and Babs and Robert Powell as well as some routine clips (keep an eye out for any rarely seen ones!). It is due to be broadcast on Thursday 17 May. The producer/director has promised me a photo from the filming for the site, and we can put up a little advert!
Here are some photos taken from the day of recording (see Andy's stairs images for the reference). Click to enlarge:

BBC are leaving the Television Centre & heading up north to Salford,Manchester. But thankfully it's a Grade 2 listed building & won't be demolished to become an extension of Westfield Shopping Centre or whatever lol. That BBC-4 Documentary may have some really choice tips of juicy Pan's People archive clips (maybe ones we haven't seen thus!) & a finger on the 'record' button of a 'DigiBox' if anyone's got one would be greatly appreciated for any possible future uploads or screencaptures we could use?.

I'm sure I won't be the only one recording it, Peter, and I'll upload the Pan's segment to our You Tube account for posterity.
The producer told me there would be some 'nice clips' of PP, so let's hope they've made an effort to dig out some less commonly seen ones, as opposed to rebroadcasting the ready made out of the tin compilation used in Digging the Dancing Queens, etc!

That is a wonderful return to the BBC Stairwell that they posed by way back in 1970.I am just sad that they are not joined by Flick,Andi & Louise.(Perhaps the latter two will join them in a future photoshoot ?).It's fun to compare the two photos of then & now.Bit like The Beatles returning to the inner stairwell at EMI House in Manchester Square in 1969.
Great Photo Shoot
Terrific pictures, what a great photo shoot and how lucky for Director Richard Marsden to be able to be in the photo shoot with three Pans People members.
I think Ruth, Babs & Dee Dee all look lovely and I must say I like Ruths hairstyle.
I cant wait to see this programme : )
Ruth
Its lovely to see the girls looking well particularly Ruth who ,for once, does not have her hair covering her charming face

What is in the window just above Louise's head - a mannequin? Is that a costume dept room?!
It looks like a woman's bust
It looks like a woman's bust mannequin, with the bristols covered up by a silver bra, I can't really make out whether there's a head or not, there does appear to be another similar looking mannequin as well just next to it!

The TV Centre Effect
I was wondering what effect the documentary had on site visits - more than doubled over Thurs/Fri thanks to interest from the documentary!
BARRY BIGGS - (with Sue?), THREE RING CIRCUS - 07/07/1977
Looking at the performance on BBC4 last night and replaying it over and over again, does anybody see the girl dressed in a tiger outfit sitting behind Mr Biggs. For a brief moment maybe once or twice, is looks like it could be Sue. I could be wrong, but if someone can freeze-frame and zoom-out at the right place, maybe we'll know for sue.
Well spotted Alex. Its a bit
Well spotted Alex. Its a bit of a waste you don't get any real chance to see if it is Sue yet the costume looks like the one that Floid wore in "The Flasher"

Yes Sue is sitting on the stage. Jez drew attention to this happening a while ago but a shame there were no close ups after she had taken the trouble to don that cat suit.
Ha,ha well spotted!
Yes,very well spotted Alex. Gorgeous Sue dressed as a Cat & dressed as Ma Baker in the same show.
High hopes that she will be Bat-Girl next week?......
.....Tee,hee........

I think I purrfer Sue as a Cat to Ma Baker although Sue does look cute when she wrinkles her nose at the end.
Hadn’t noticed that Jez mention it before must have been when the last comments weren’t working properly
