Please write your questions for Dee Dee here.
Dee Dee was kind enough to grant us an interview way back in 2002 or 2003 (how time flies!) and it's great now to be able to finally bring it to fruition!

Hi Dee Dee, It's great to hear from you,
Do you girls still stay in touch with Andi?
When Flick gave up dancing was there any talk of getting another dancer in to keep the line up 6?
You girls are gay icons by the way

This is just a quick Welcome message.

Welcome on board Dee Dee!
For Dee Dee
Welcome to the site, Dee Dee
I hope you don't mind, but I've got a few questions to put to you.
Where did the name Dee Dee come from? I wondered if it was a shortened version of Dionysius Darling?
I know Lorelly Harris left Pan's People to join the Bluebell Girls in Paris but I would like to know why Penny Fergusson left? I know Lorelly lives in a small village in France but do you know what happened to Penny?
Why is Andrea always absent from reunions? Do any of you keep in touch with her? I was most surprised when she didn't attend Flick's memorial service.
Thanks
Gary x
Hi Dee Dee and many thanks
Hi Dee Dee and many thanks for taking part. Can I ask if you can recall which was your last dance on TOTP.
Hi dee dee ,great to have you
Hi dee dee ,great to have you here to help answer some questions for us pansfans ,ive spoke a few times on e mail etc with you regarding pans routines and a message you did for us fans ,and you have always been a very kind genuine lady who does her best to acknowledge and show your appreciation for us fans of you and the rest of pans ,so even though ive said it before id just like to thank you very much once again for that ,anyway one of my questions is have you any more news on the long awaited book you were writing about your time with pans people
What Year Was The Picture Taken
Hi Dee Dee,
Please can you remember when and where the lovely picture was taken of Babs and yourself where you are both leaping into the air in what looks like a dance studio in a loft?, many of us at the site have been trying to work this one out.
Thanks Dee Dee
Lime In The Coconut
Dee Dee,
Another question, something Ive wanted to know for a long time.
Can you remember where the routine for Lime In The Coconut rourine was filmed?, although I prefure the routine overdubbed with the song Suger Me, this is a great favourite Pans People routine of mine, you all look amazing and its a very funny routine.
Thank You for all the enjoyment Pans People has given which continues today.
Lost Routines
Hi Dee Dee, I want to say that you always seem such a positive person when dancing and in interviews and it's great that you are being interviewed here where some of your most "devout" fans reside I think. I am sure you are aware of the regret we all feel abnout the Pans People routines erased in the 1970s by the BBC and I wonder if you could comment on whether there is any hope of some of these dances resurfacing later
Rusty
Hi Dee Dee.Thankyou so much
Hi Dee Dee.Thankyou so much for wonderful years of superb dancing that we still relish now thanks to youtube. It's a joy that you are giving an interview for this website.
Please may I ask did you & Pan's People all go to any Movie Premieres or Theatre Premieres together?.Did Pan's People ever go to London Discos just to relax & dance for fun?.
Thanks very much Dee Dee.I am a huge fan on Pan's People & I think they are as brilliant now watching them on youtube,TOTP 2 etc. as they ever were.A whole new generation is discovering them.Thankyou.
The wider world of dance
Dee Dee, this website tends to be backward looking and quite rightly remembers the good old days of dance troops on television. But it is quite obvious with the activities that you get involved in like the dance classes for the over 50s that your passion for dance is undiminished.
Therefore my question is, do you see a role for dance on television going forward and beyond the quite limited Strictly format and the Christmas ballet and appearance of Darcey Bussel? The huge audiences that Strictly gets demonstrates that there is an interest in dance. But apart from some attempt by channel 4 to promote contemporary dance in the 80s and the excellent series on rehearsals of the English National Ballet dance seems to be distinctly underrepresented in the TV of today. I for one would like to see this situation change, but as you are closer to what is happening is there reason for optimism on this front?
camera work
Hi Dee Dee
a question about camera work. From Fred Astaire to Flick, dancers have worried about camera views. Is the camera work on S C Dancing poor? They only dance for 90 seconds but instead of dancing feet or legs, we get smiling faces. The Darcey programme was nearly unwatchable because of the same fault, when they had included the original film showing how it should be done. Back in the day we did not see many close ups of your lovely faces but today we are given close up views of a fat fortune teller . Am I imaging things ?
You graced the kaleidoscope programme not so long ago. Will you be making personal appearances anywhere else ? Would you let your loyal fans know if you have such plans , please.
A big thank you for continuing to contribute to various TV programmes over the years. We hope you will continue to do so for many more
your loyal fan
John
TOTP
Dee Dee,
After you left Pans People, did you continue to watch TOTP to see what Pans People were up to and with Ruby Flipper & Legs & Co.?, I bet you are glad you didnt have to wear those Candles on your head which Sue, Ruth, Cherry, Mary & Lee had to for a routine, lol.
Pop Entertainment In The 1960s
Hi Dee Dee,
It was interesting during the documentry when you mentioned after Ready, Steady, Go closed there wasnt many pop tv shows around and young people mostly watched Top Of The Pops.
The same thing could be said about radio in the Uk before Radio 1 started broadcasting in 1967, I would love to know Dee Dee, during the 1960s ( and maybe beyond the 1960s ) did you ever used to listen to the pop pirates, esp Radio Caroline?.
Amazing to think Radio Caroline is still rocking and is 48 years old this coming Easter.
Hi again,
Hi again,
I have an idea. Would you and the girls ever do 'An Evening With Pan's People' ?
Dave
Evening with Pan's?
That's a great idea Dave!
Where can I buy a ticket?
An evening with Pans People, Legs & Co & anyone else who worked with Flick during TOTP would be a fabulous idea. Many stars of stage & screen have toured with this 'An Evening with ...' format so it would be lovely to see a show where we get to see a screened routine & the girls talk about the various aspects of each afterwards - Would be a lot of fun. Just imagine DD, you could sign copies of your newly published History of PP in the foyer after the show! In the meantime, what's the latest as regards copyright of Pans People performances? Sounds like (40 years on) a lot of red tape to me. Hopefully there can be some settlement reached regarding royalties so they can be released on DVD in the not-too-distant future as none of us are getting any younger! All the Best

a suggestion
Can we lobby for Ruth, Babs or Dee Dee to be on Desert Island Discs?

Hi again,
Hi again,
What are your feelings about the many lost/wiped episodes of Top Of The Pops?
Dave
Rival dance troupes?
Was Dee Dee Wilde's Pan's People intended to be a rival dance group to Legs & Co.?

Mary Whitehouse
Dee Dee,
Were you and the girls amused about Mary Whitehouse and her silly complaints about Pans People? and did you ever do anything to wind her up on purpose?, lol.
Another question for Dee Dee
Hi Dee Dee
Thanks
Gary
Venice pix
Can't work this site out ...but..
Greetings my Darlings, It's Rod from the Luvvers (drummer). A colleague of mine asked me about Alex Bell from the Luvvers and I wondered what happened to Alex and Dee Dee.Alex and I shared a flat in Powis Square.I thought I would check online and see if I could contact Dee Dee and behold - a Pans People site- how wonderful . Memories flooded back reading your entries and looking at you all. I must dig out some pix of us all at Heathrow on our way to Venice .Where do I send them and how do we talk ? Love Rod Coombes

Hi welcome.Navigation of the site is tricky, but Panfan is on the case. You can upload pictures by using the 'add a new file' feature below;i'm sure we'd all love to see them.If you want to contact Dee Dee,you could leave her a question at the top of the page,as she'll be interviewed some time in the future. She also has a web-site - link at the bottom of the page.By the way,you were in the Strawbs too weren't you?
Glenn
Dear Dee Dee, sometimes the
Dear Dee Dee, sometimes the camera used to show one or two dancers in close-up for part of the song, before switching back to show the whole troupe again... what did you do when the camera wasn't on you? Did Flick choreograph it so that the unseen dancers could stop and walk over to their next position, or did you all have to keep dancing unseen?

Pan's People dancing with performers
Hi Dee Dee
Welcome to the forum.
Do you remember the dance routines you and the others of Pan's People danced to, where you appeared With the performers whose songs you were dancing to?
This information is very sketchy, as the BBC didn't note full details of when Pan's People and other dance groups appeared, charts, etc, but one I've come across on this forum is Bobbie Gentry - If You Gotta Make A Fool Of Somebody, 30/4/70.
http://www.panspeople.com/graphics/thumbnails/routines/pans_people/1970/1970_04_30_bobbie_gentry.jpg
Do you recall the full line-up of which dancers appeared? It's a nice photo but not all the dancers are in vision.

Cher - Gypsies, Tramps And Thieves
Hi Dee Dee
Did each of you perform this Cher song in the studio?
3 dates are listed, the first as a "promo video", which was a TOTP promo of walk on actors and 2 were studio based, listed on Popscene as the playout song for 18/11/71 and 2/12/71.
The date you all danced to this song has outfoxed us all.

Pan's People Photos
Hi again Dee Dee
To give other people a chance, I'll conclude with this question.
As you know, disappointingly quite a number of Pan's People dance routines don't exist, a number of these and others not accounted for in the BBC records.
Do you have photos or know of any web sites that have photos of Pan's People dance routines?
Several are unidentified here, several are known including The Jean Genie but others are currently not uploaded like Popcorn, Baby Face, Bridge Over Troubled Water (a Flick solo) and Run Run Run. This would also help identify some or all of the dancers per routine.
